Why Living Green Is Important
Have ever wondered, why living green is important? You hear so much today in newspapers, on the radio and TV about green living that you must realize that there are concerns about our planet’s environmental issues. As our global population continues to grow, the pressure on our natural resources also increases. Listed below are what I consider to be world-wide concerns about our environment.
Energy is probably the number one concern of most people in today’s society, mainly because of our continuing depletion of oil. We need to stop the search for so-called dirty fuels and concentrate on wind, solar, and water for our energy choices. Finally some legislature is being passed in congress to help promote new clean energy resources. You can do your part my conserving energy by keeping your vehicle tuned up, set back your thermostat, and use energy-efficient appliances.
We must avoid products that contain toxic chemicals. Before you buy a cleaning product, look to see it contains biodegradable chemicals that are made from natural resources. By doing just a little you can help keep these types of items from our water ways and send a message to big chemical companies by not purchasing their products, eventually their sales will lesson.
Today our children are exposed to so many additives and pesticides in our food that it is down right scary. We are creating new health risk daily for our future generation. Avoid foods that contain preservatives, and try to eat foods that are all natural. By doing this you are on your way to green living. We need to protect our children at all cost.
A couple more examples of how we can go green are my using non-pesticides on our lawn and gardens. We all know how easy it is to grab the garden hose and water our lawns and gardens. Why not do as I do and capture rain water using a 55 gallon drum attached to your gutters down spouts. You will be surprised how easy it is to think about green living.
I challenge anyone who is serious about green living to sit down and make a list of things you can do to help our environment. Include in your list things like light bulbs and that the next time you buy them you are going to buy new energy-efficient lamps. Include in your list to use recyclable paper products, this way you can help save our dwindling forest. There are so many ways that you can answer the question, “why green living is important”. You will be surprised how many things you will have on your list. Think green and you will be doing your part to save the planet.
